I called the electricity/water company and got service set up for connection for Sept 1. It was actually much easier to do than I expected but its nice to know that when we do get off the plane, the house will at least have power! :teehee:
next assignment- get garbage collection sorted out
I'll wait to do the cable/phone/internet for when I get there....I think. the jury is still out on that one. its definitely NOT a necessity and there are some other specifics that I would want to check on before I make a decision. although being the internet junkie that I am, if connection services are backed up (small college town) and I have to wait more than 3 days for services, I would not be a happy camper. (trivial matter...I know)
I am stalking craigslist for cars and exercise equipment. seriously. I love my stationery bike and since I began this weight loss program, I've really had to incorporate my bike more than usual in helping me keep my daily calorie intake at what it should be! ;) yes I do cheat..but I guess it works since I've lost 8 pounds so far! :woohoo:
oh yea...another 'to do' on the list (important) is secure tickets. I think I have at least another 5 weeks to play around before I miss the 'early bird' fare discounts but I need to at least begin monitoring so we can know what we are budgeting for. Its interesting because travel has now become a science. don't want to book too far in advance, don't want to wait for last minute unless you are traveling a popular route (and Nassau to Canada is NOT), need to know restrictions/rates on baggage allowance, best/worst (i.e. most expensive) days to travel...and the list continues.
Since I'm actually 'moving', I need to find an airline that at least covers the first bag FREE...because between hubby and I, we will have 4 bags and on some airlines, the cost for 2 bags (x 2 people) is almost half of another ticket ($100).
so that's my "short" update...off to continue being :superwoman:

:peace:

I got a call on yesterday from a friend of mine. She's a case worker for DSS or CPS. She said that she couldn't make it to my birthday festivities because she was on-call.

There was a 5 month old baby that was brought in the hospital. The mother, 23, went to work and left her baby with her boyfriend of 4 months, 19. After she got to work for 15 mins, the bf called her and said that the baby was throwing up from his mouth and nose. Anyway, the mother was all hugged up with the bf all weekend. She was very nonchalant about her baby (weighing only 10 lbs) that was on life support. My friend called today and said that the baby died Sunday morning. My friend believes that the bf shook the baby. He kept telling the mother that he would marry her....though he has a rape charge.

Now I just don't understand how people can be so careless about the care of a baby. Here I am hoping to ovulate so that we can have a life of own, and these fools are just going with the wind.

well NOT quite in session just yet. but I am officially registered! only for my first two classes (requirements for my first semester) and I am sooooo stoked. you wouldn't think that I've gone through this process twice before (undergrad and grad). I will get old quickly, but in the spirit of enjoying every moment, I'm truly excited about this step. I'm in talks with my advisor about my other 2 classes. I'm thinking I will be the overachiever and go for 4 classes this semester rather than the 3 required...we'll see. each class is 3 hrs long and carries daily reading equivalent with class time. i.e no less than 3 hrs of reading outside of formal class meetings per day for each course. yikes....
in bigger news, I also sent off all the required documents for my study permit/visa which is a requirement for foreigners like myself to study in any country. [that's one awesome and very important check done]. now I must wait. wait for them to send me the appropriate forms so I can have a medical done. then send the results back to them...then wait some more (up to 5 weeks) for them to send the letter of authorization for me to attend school. I'm seriously pushing it close here...but the slacker in me had not yet applied for a passport with my new name until April of this year (yup a year after the wedding) and that took forever to process (we island people typically move slower than the rest of the world). Obviously, it didn't make sense applying for a study permit in my old name knowing I would have to eventually (like from last year) change all my legal documents to reflect the marriage name. :sigh: why couldn't the men take the woman's name???? :teehee: thank God Dayton doesn't read this blog else smoke would be coming from his ears at that last statement.
so i also have to now apply for a new US visa since I"ll be flying through US to get to my final destination and sister-girl don't want no trouble/delays/issues...I sense there will be moments when I will just decide its time to go visit my husband!!!:nutt: conjugal visits are very important!
Another to-do on the check list is to get my first and last payment together to send to secure my housing arrangements for the fall.
I also want to check with legal aid regarding getting the facts on spouses of students securing jobs etc. I’ve poured over the government’s websites and found the information I need, but I need reassurance so I can rest a bit comfortably that whenever handsome (my nickname for DH) decides to make the move, all things will be ‘straight’.

Ok. So that’s it for now. Hopefully, something off this list can be crossed off by the end of this month!!

so I'm kinda bored at work today and really wish I could just be home...its about 12:44pm and if I'm not mistaken the first of two back-to-back episodes of Las Vegas is on.
but alas, I'm not home. so considering my clients and their parents are on the fritz...MIA and I'm up-to-date on reports, I literally have NOTHING to do. the past 2 days I graciously volunteered to score and create reports for some group testing another district conducted but I'm done with them. I saved them at least 10 hrs of overtime (unpaid) so that's my gift for the month of june.
what to do...what to do. I'm browsing BAB and notice that everyone's counting down to something. so that sparks me- what am I looking forward to... ding ding ding...
you gat it. the next big step in my life! so since I have no clue, when exactly DH and I will be flying, I'll countdown till the first day of classes..Sept 9th! can you believe its only 89 days away??? I'm floored. I'm seriously like wow...why does that sound like such a short time. I remember summers being (or at least) seeming longer than that! :teehee:
No one in my office cares that much for my plans and I'm kinda afraid to show tooo much excitement around DH (don't want him to feel I'm excited about leaving him) so I thought I'd mindlessly blog about it.
:yay: you are the chosen lucky individuals who get to share in this exciting revelation because you actually stick through and read my ramblings... thanks!

“a penny for your thoughts, a nickel for your kiss…”

USHER, (smiling slyly) REALLY, if I could live inside the mind of certain people, I swear, I’d pay any cost. For once I’d like to see just how some people think. I mean I know the random crap that goes through my head, some of which I could never say aloud. Hell I tried that the other night and folks thought I was crazy. Crazy because I spoke my mind, granted it’s usually the things people want to say but are too afraid to, some of it is a bit farfetched, BUT that’s me though. I often wonder if people see things the way I do. Do they imagine the unthinkable? Do they premeditate most of their actions as I do? My mind is like a movie in Dolby Digital lol. If I can get into it I can create how a whole scene /situation should/could pan out, dialog and all. Play by play. Sometimes it’s a good thing other times it’s not. I often wonder if I am the only person that experiences that.

“Desire” “Marathon” “Love Drug”-

Can Raheem Devaughn get out of my head for a second? These are just some of my favorite songs, but they’re on repeat. Don’t let me get lost in the words, “love making is a zone” WHAT?!? My mind starts to create pictures of an intense physical connection between two people. I mean this man gets my motors going. “as the seconds turn to minutes, as the minutes turn to hours, as the sound of love is hollered, time just keeps elapsing, and I just keep climaxing..” are we serious. Do you know how much sweat and spiritual energy is transferred just in those lines alone? I mean sex is a serious thing once you’ve got the right connection/vibe/energy with the right person. Can you just picture the intensity of two heated, charged, kinetically energized, people caught in that zone. All that just going back and forth between the two, he feeds her she feeds him, that kind of spiritually connected , I won’t even call it love making, it’s just a –what’s the word I’m looking for, session, I guess. For a while, I thought it was only I who thought like that, but after hearing songs like Desire and Marathon, and Love Drug, and Breathe-oh my goodness Breathe. Can you imagine those same two charged people breathing in sync. And by in sync I don’t mean just breathing at the same time. I’m referring to tuning out all outside interferences, the only sound s that are heard are the sounds of their heartbeats and their breathing, Not as 2 separate entities but as one. For every inhale there’s an exhale right on cue, and vice versa that it becomes one sound. To take it a step further, those same people lying chest to chest, so lost in a zone that their heartbeats match and become rhythmic? That in its self can be so orgasmic, like a total body orgasmic experience. It’s a shame most people don’t know how to step outside their normal self, or step inside their uninhibited self and indulge in tantric experiences. There’s so much to be done in the art of sex, it’s more than just a few humps and a nut. Right person seems so cliché but it’s so true. With the right person, as mentioned earlier, the energy is crazy. The build –up alone, is an experience. Everybody should know what that “fantasy” is supposed to feel like, and bring it out of the realm of fantasy and make it reality. Everybody should be in touch with their sensual side; everybody should know their own bodies. Why is loving on yourself so taboo? If you don’t know what feels good to you, how do/can you communicate that to your partner so they know how to make you feel good and vice versa? There is absolutely nothing wrong with pleasing one’s self. Back to the topic of tantric experiences; why lose sight of the other senses during the build up to and the actual act? Touch of course is the major, so why not enhance it. All of the senses can be arousing so why not utilize them? By that I mean incorporating everything, sound (breathing, talking, moaning, music ect.) sight, smell, taste, and most definitely, the most important part touch. The best part is touch. Feeling another warm body pressed against yours, feeling the softness of your partner’s skin, feeling the tremors, I mean feeling everything. Taking feeling to a whole different level, feeling the transfer of the energy; people fail to realize that touching, is the transfer of energy, whatever you energy you’re carrying is transferred through to touch. The art of seduction and sex is so erotic, too bad some people either aren’t in tune, or carry around so much negative energy they ward off all possibility of being charged the right way.

I might as well be pregnant....at least I could blame the 'hormones' for my instability.
so as if I didn't have enough of my own uncertainties, fears and worries...now the heat has been turned on and turned to full blast.
I got two calls today regarding me 'leaving my husband' and within 2 mins of both convos I burst into tears...like seriously...like I found out someone close to me died. In a way, I guess what I'm going through is a sort of grieving...
grieving the perfect little plan we had talked about for both of us to go and do our thing for a couple years...grieving the possibility that if I go, I may have to thug it out alone for the full 4 years, grieving the possibility that I may have to walk away from a dream....:falltopieces: yup, as you can guess, I can barely read what I am typing because of the tears clouding my vision.
my dad and grandmother (maternal) both called to share their disagreement with me leaving my husband. its not a good idea they say. I need to rethink this. Am I willing to sacrifice my family for my professional goals. My grandmother even went as far as to say, that a man has needs and I have to be there for him unless he'll cheat. that all men can't be trusted. WTH?
I'm not sure why I'm even getting upset over the conversations but at some level I guess, what they are saying is kinda what I'm feeling...
well let me clarify. I do not believe that because we will be separated that my husband will cheat. if he does cheat, its because he chose to and that is just as likely to happen while we share a bed as much as if we are doing long distance. its the person and his/her choices not some uncontrollable destiny.
what I do fear (and kinda agree with them): that maybe I'm gonna mess up our family. that somehow because I'm pursuing this that I'm being a bad wife...
I'm struggling big time. Why is it my responsibility? It was my husband who just changed his mind about wanting to go...had he disagreed with this, I wouldn't have applied and thus eliminated all of the current heartache. if the tables were turned and my husband got sent somewhere for work or chose to pursue school, i wouldn't have the option to 'not want to go'. Is it me or is there something inherently archaic in the logic? I will say this...I do believe that the man is the head of the household but ultimately isn't marriage a partnership?
:sigh: I'm so tired. on one hand...everything is just about set. near to perfect. there are some areas that are unaccounted for but for the most part, the average doctoral applicant can't boast of all I got.
on the other hand, my poor heart is just being ripped to shreds.
ok...I can't think anymore..sorry for rambling but this writing has truly become cathartic for me to process everything.

sooo before I forget let me post the link now..
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...3&l=d5ad27eca1
Now vacation for me began with a family trip to Daytona Beach to celebrate with some of my family for my uncle's birthday. Dayton wasn't with me at this point but I got some good quality time with my sis who also lives in the area.
I left Daytona and headed to Ft Lauderdale where Dayton would meet me and we would head out to Detroit. We woke up early to head to Windsor. crossing the border was 'interesting' to say the least. we were an alien in both countries and I never quite feel comfortable with the amount and depth of questions fielded by customs/immigration officers. we made it fine after about 20 mins of interrogation...then drove around the area, visited the school and then the house. we had lunch and kinda hung out there...and then headed back.
the one thing I did learn is that Windsor = BORING. OMGosh, I am probably one of the most homey, laid back, uneventful people you could meet and I was like..."huh?". thank God, Detroit will be but a 15 minute drive from my house/campus.
The other day in Detroit was nice enough..did some shopping and driving. we were then all about New York...so we caught an earlier flight out and were all about the NYC!
well...what's to say about New York. it was Dayton's first time, my 2nd but my first as an adult -on my own- so we chose the tourist options rather than shopping (which we first planned on doing). I loved it. I still have to go back because we didnt see the Statue of Liberty up close, nor did we go in Madison Square Gardens and when we return, we'll have to catch a game. anything EXCEPT baseball. most of the pics are from NY...
and that's pretty much it...
we stayed at the Affinia Shelburne (formerly Shelburne Murray) and it was perfect! there is some construction going on in the lobby as they try to finish renovations for 'grand opening' next month but that was the only complaint. the rooms were HUGE, awesome, comfortable and clean. the staff was friendly and accommodating. the location was perfect - out from the Times Square crowd but still close enough to walk without passing out.
OH! Dayton's bday was Sunday (24th) so I had the concierge decorate the room and provide fruit and chocolate platters with wine. that came off wonderfully. I even managed to keep it a secret even though Mr Nosey was asking sooooooo many questions I was just ready to tell him.
so tha's my recap. it was definitely worth the wait and we are already thinking of which state(s) to visit for next year's vacation...if we can afford to take one given my newly acquired student status.
:peace:

so we were gone for almost 2 weeks and I loved every minute (well almost) of the trip.
I visited family in Daytona Beach for a couple days, then met DH and we went to Detroit. we spent one day in Windsor and the other day in Detroit area. the other 4 days were spent doing the tourist thing in NYC and finally we ended where we began in FL for 1.5 days.
what do I love? the house!!!
OMGosh...it was just the cutest, most perfect little house ever! it looks EXACTLY like the pictures I posted. I'm still freaking out! you would think that we are actually buying the house how excited I got. and if that's not enough to 'get you'...Mr Jones, who is also known as, Mr. Cool and Mr. I-dont-get-excited actually said "wow". :teehee: he did an "awww" and a gasp. I think I may be wearing him down- the house may be the kicker....::fingers crossed:: hopefully!
so I'm still not totally decided. I mean, I'm thinking in terms of "I'm going" but I still struggle almost daily with what this step will truly mean for our family especially the financial pressure of 2 households on my husband in an unstable economy. :dunno:
as I mentioned before- I try to be very prayerful about my steps because I always want to be in God's will so that's where I am at now. trying to have my spiritual ears open to what God has to say on this...
I will say this- the way the pieces are falling together is amazing!
I'm sorry I just left without re-writing the last entry but things got crazy trying to make sure I had my desk in order for vacation and I never got around to updating the blog before the trip!

so I'm not gonna even lie to you...I am uber excited! I have been checking out apartments online..and have found one or 2 that I absolutely adore. this particular one that I have claimed as mine actually has an island in the kitchen, its 1000 sq ft and it has a sliding door with a view of a cute, well landscaped backyard. :teehee: I figure if I'm gonna be living there for 4 years, I may as well look for comfort as well as price! now I was sold on this, secretly praying that no one signs a contract until I get there next month and can woo the owners into letting me give my deposit although official rent wouldn't start until Sept...that's some serious woo-ing huh? Jeffrey Osbourne gats nuffin on me! :bootyshake: this was until.....(insert doomsday music here) I got an e-mail of the cutest little 2bd1bth house with an office, cute backyard only 2mins from school! I almost squealed in delight. I've attached the pictures below. I couldn't show all of them for anonymity sake---dont know who actually reads my loser blog but wouldn't want to put all my bidness out there...also just in case I don't get it (right) and I wouldn't want to be putting someone else business out there either... but just from these two pics...can I get a collective "awwwwww". I seriously wubs it! I've made contact and it actually isn't available until Aug soooooooooo that makes my chances even easier -all things considered! soooo the negatives. I have to shovel my own snow. ick. this is a Caribbean girl here and although yes, I have thugged out god-forbidden weather during undergrad, I was smart enough to always stay near to campus through their programs i.e. someone was always responsible for making sure everything was clear! oh dear...I'm not sure if I can handle the sole responsibility of shoveling snow, maintaining heating etc. but...on the other side. its never too late to learn right?
hmmmm what do you think?
